The Pomegranate is a delightful Victorian 546-seat proscenium arch theatre housed in the Grade II listed [George] Stephenson Memorial Hall. Established in 1949 this is the country’s oldest civic theatre with Chesterfield Borough Council continuing the proud tradition of providing a year round programme of professional touring theatre and high quality local amateur productions.
Over the course of a theatregoing year we aim to make audiences laugh, cry and debate so why not ring the Box Office or investigate our website for details of the current season.
Our developing Arts programme offers small-scale music events, craft demonstrations, drama workshops, and a burgeoning New Playwrights’ scheme. These events are organised by our Arts Projects Officer, Carole Copeland who also runs the successful Pomegranate Youth Theatre.
And whatever draws you in the first time, it won't be the last so why not investigate our great deals for regular customers and join the Friends of the Pomegranate?
